MOOMINVALLEY is a new TV adaptation of writer-illustrator Tove Jansson’s classic and much-loved stories about the Moomins. Directed to a family primetime audience, the drama fantasy series is full of life and laughter for lifelong Moomin fans, and complete newcomers alike. 

The new animation series is made using state-of-the-art 3d CGI to introduce Moomin to a new generation – and to screens in a way never seen before. Season 1 premiered in spring 2019 on Yle in Finland and Sky in the UK. 

The creative team behind the new TV series includes Gutsy creative director and executive producer Marika Makaroff; Oscar®-winning director Steve Box; BAFTA®-winning producer John Woolley and Emmy®-winning writing duo Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler.  

After a 10-way pitch process, Anima Vitae was chosen as the animation studio to bring the Moomins life. In season 1 Anima was responsible for everything from layout and animation to light and comp. Anima also developed the 3d look of the Moomins and the world surrounding them.
